About me

I am an educator and instructional designer with a Doctorate in Education (Curriculum & Instruction) and extensive experience in digital pedagogy, instructional design, and teacher training. I am passionate about preparing both students and educators to thrive in digitally enhanced environments. My commitment to inclusion, diversity, and technology leadership drives me to design learning experiences that not only meet academic goals but also empower learners as leaders in their own right.

With a strong background in teaching English for academic and test purposes to international students, I bring expertise in supporting diverse learners and designing curricula that foster equity, belonging, and academic success. My teaching and research highlight how technology and immersive learning environments—including AI-powered tools and the Metaverse—can expand opportunities for all learners.

I have published in peer-reviewed journals. Recently, I published two book chapters on the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Qatar, discussing the challenges and opportunities in this field and on the use of virtual reality  (VR) to improve faculty's intercultural competence. My previous research focused on developing and using media accessibility tools to enhance language acquisition for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

I was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2024-2025).

I was awarded the Julius P. Filcik Doctoral Fellowship for the academic year 2022-2023. In October 2022, I was recognized by IUP's Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement for my outstanding leadership and contributions to Indiana University of Pennsylvania during the 2021-2022 academic year.
