About me

I am a teaching associate in the Department of Professional Studies in Education and a doctoral candidate in the Curriculum and Instruction program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). My primary research interests focus on using metaverse in to enhance student engagement in online learning in higher education. Additionally, I am interested using immersive technology to enhanc intercultural competence in higher education and create effective digital instructional materials for young students, with a special emphasis on disadvantaged students.

 

I have published in peer-reviewed journals. Recently, I published two book chapter on the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Qatar, discussing the challenges and opportunities in this field and on the use of  virtual reality  (VR) to improve faculty's intercultural competence. My previous research focused on developing and using media accessibility tools to enhance language acquisition for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

 

I was awarded the Julius P. Filcik Doctoral Fellowship for the academic year 2022-2023. In October 2022, I was recognized by IUP's Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement for my outstanding leadership and contributions to Indiana University of Pennsylvania during the 2021-2022 academic year.
